Parents read this before booking kids headshots!👇 Parents read this before booking kids headshots!👇

Waffle was an amazing child actor in front of my camera.

🤯 But I once had a session with kids running wild, throwing my equipment, and parents unintentionally making it worse.

❌ We barely got any usable shots.

🤦‍♀️ The chaos was real.

And this happens far too often.

Here’s my top advice for a successful child headshot session:

1️⃣ Set Expectations.

✨ ASK your child if they want photos taken by a professional.

💡 Explain they need to stand still and look at the camera. Practice first!

✅ If they’re not ready, it’s okay to wait. Don’t waste your investment.

2️⃣ Schedule Around Nap Time.

😴 A well-rested child is a happy child. Avoid grumpy kids at all costs!

3️⃣ Feed Them Well (No Sugar!).

🍎 Hungry or sugar-wired kids are distractions. Keep them fueled with nutrician.

4️⃣ Never Bribe with Food.

🛑 It just creates another distraction. Bribes rarely work with young kids during a shoot anyway.

5️⃣ Understand Your Responsibility.

➡️ Manage distracting behavior.

🙏 Your focus helps me focus.

✨ A successful headshot session for kids needs a calm collaborative environment.

If you’re frustrated with only a few auditions a y If you’re frustrated with only a few auditions a year…

I know exactly how you feel because it’s my story.

I’m Vanie Poyey, the headshot photographer 📸 for actors who don’t like to pose.

I was an actor, trying to get auditions for years.

💸 I spent thousands on re-shooting headshots over and over again but never got the auditions to match.

😫 I felt hopeless.

I was doing everything “right,” but nothing was working.

That exact cycle is a huge part of why I eventually quit acting.

Now, I’m the photographer I wish I’d had.

✅ My clients are going out on MULTIPLE auditions in a week, not in a year.

✨Because my entire process is different.

❌ We don’t just take “more” headshots.

💁🏼‍♀️We create specific, personality-driven marketing looks designed to get you in the room.

If you’re done wasting time and money on headshots that don’t work, it’s time to invest in the ones that do.📲

If this found you at the right time, give my post a like.❤️

Here’s how you get this for yourself.👇 But first, Here’s how you get this for yourself.👇

But first, the lovely actress Shalisha!

❌ Different headshot looks DOES NOT mean changing outfits and giving the same sexy face in each one!

⚡️When you change outfits to convey a different look, you also need to change THE ESSENCE of the character, or it won’t work.

✅ Your essence changes when you act on camera instead of posing for the camera.

Hi,👋 I’m Vanie (Vah-nee) Poyey, the Los Angeles headshot photographer for actors who don’t like to pose.

I direct you in front of the camera by playing improv games so you act and we bring out an emotional range from one character to the next.

✅ THAT’S what gets you different looks.

Rembmer to help end the “like” recession and like this post if you’re reading this!❤️
The difference between good headshots vs. bad head The difference between good headshots vs. bad headshots👇

But first, the lovely actress Sam Alon!

❌ Posing = bad
✅ Acting = good

When you model, you pose for the camera. When you act, you act for the camera.

When you pose, you’re worried about how your face looks and what angles look good on camera.

When you act, you’re in the moment, being truthful on camera and not in your head trying to pose.

✨That authenticity translates to good headshots

The difference between commercial vs. theatrical h The difference between commercial vs. theatrical headshots...

But first, featuring actor Tristan King, all theatrical looks.

❌ Stop asking if a headshot photographer shoots “commercial” or “theatrical.”

Here’s the truth: The line has completely blurred.

Think about it:

❌ Your “Suburban Mom” look isn’t just for commercials.

✅ You’re also the “Suburban Mom” in a one-hour drama.

✅ The “Office Guy” in a sitcom is the same “type” as the “Office Guy” in a procedural.

Most of your looks are crossovers.

So, what actually changes in an acting headshot?

Your ESSENCE.

✨ The “Mom” in a Target commercial has a different feeling, a different story, than the “Mom” in Ozark.

Your headshot session shouldn’t be about just “smiley vs. non-smiley.”

⚡️It should be about capturing an emotional arc for each look—from a bright, commercial essence to a grounded, theatrical one.

📸You don’t need two different photographers.

You need one photographer who directs you like an ACTOR, not a model, to show you can do both.

➡️➡️Hey if you made it this far, please like this post. There’s a like recession and we need to like posts to support one another!

Also, have you been confused by this distinction? Let’s talk in the comments.👇
