Why Your Client Experience Matters More Than You Think

Sooo, I had an actress shoot headshots with me the other day, after having just spent $400 on another set elsewhere that her agent wasn’t happy with.

Now, my package– the timed, one hour session, only $600. Not a huge difference, right?

Here’s the sh*ty part:👉 her agent had actually recommended me from the start. Cue the re-shoot with yours truly, causing this poor girl to now unnecessarily spend a total of $1000 on headshots.

BUT she figured, she’ll just grab some “quick” headshots, and save a little. Yes, she actually used the dreaded word “quick.”🤦🏼‍♀️ We all know there’s no such thing as quick and good right?

She told me that she saw me more as an “investment,” one she should make when she’s getting a “full” set of headshots.

But here’s the point I want to make. She didn’t say the pictures were bad (though, in my humble opinion, they weren’t great).

What really stuck with her was the experience.

She told me the other photographer was “unprepared” and gave her ZERO guidance. That’s what she focused on, the lack of professionalism.

✨And THAT’S what I want to really hit home for you.✨

It’s not just about the final images, it’s about the entire experience you provide. It’s about guiding your clients, being professional, and making them feel valued. Because they’ll forget your pictures but they’ll never forget the experience with you.

To further make my point, just yesterday, another client was raving about how professional my website and follow-ups were. And guess what, most of that follow-up, as I teach my students in Headshot Academy, is automated through my CRM! He was blown away when I told him that.

That’s exactly the kind of reaction from clients we should all strive for.

The takeaway here is, don’t be that photographer.

The one who’s unprepared, unprofessional, and leaves clients hanging. The one who doesn’t get referrals from clients.

Because the client who was impressed with my professionalism and follow-up, IS going to refer more clients my way.

The client who needed a re-shoot? Oh you know she’s already singing my praises on social media. Proof here.👇

The experience you provide matters and it can make the difference between getting work and not getting work.

Can you commit to being the photographer your clients rave about, not the one they regret? Send me a “commit” in my DMs here on my new IG account.

hi, i’m vanie!

Pronounced like Bonnie… and I blame my parents for the misspelling of my name! I went from having $300 in the bank to building a six-figure headshot photography business doing what I love. I’m here to teach you how to do the same!
