If you’ve ever wondered to yourself,
“Why invest in professional headshots?” Especially if you have friends who take pictures, here’s my super direct answer. 👇
The truth is, once the casting community gets to know you, your headshots don’t even matter.
They matter most when the casting community doesn’t already know you, because professional headshots stop you from being judged negatively. They can get complete unknowns opportunities to start building their resumes.
Because believe it or not, that first impression either says to casting you’re a pro who’s invested in your career, or you’re too green to invest in your craft. If the latter, why bother calling you in?🤷🏼♀️ You’ll bomb the audition and waste their time.
Making the investment with a professional who understands industry standards not only gives you the proper marketing tools, but ALSO lets casting know that you’re serious about your craft.
AND working with a pro should give you a return on your investment and then some with plenty of auditions and bookings.
So while it may seem like a big investment at first, and I get it, taking shortcuts can be more appealing if it saves you money short term. But it can cost you more money long term if they don’t work.
And the true cost is really time. The time your career is on hold, right?
When your headshots are strong from a technical standpoint as well as from a marketing standpoint, then casting directors who don’t know you view you as a professional and they take a chance on you. They give you the opportunities you DESERVE!
And hopefully your skills have them calling you in over and over again! 😃
